"Evelyn's career journey began in 1997 when she was still an Auditor at PriceWaterhouse. Fast-forward, she's now a Group HR and Operation Director with a reputable International Education Group, which she had never dreamed of as a long-hour serving Auditor."
By Evelyn Tay, Group HR and Singapore Operation Director
I started my career as an external Auditor with Price Waterhouse, one of the Big 6 Accounting Firms back in 1997. Many people will know that Audit is not easy and the working hours are long. I journeyed through 5 years of Audit and that was the best training I have ever received. It honed my analytical skills, resilience and ability to manage various critical projects at the same time. I stayed 12 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers and was given the opportunity to be rotated to various departments.
In 2018, my career took a turn into a different direction. I was presented with the opportunity to move to Human Resource Department. With a curious and eager-to- learn mindset, I accepted the challenge. This turns out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Compared to Audit and Finance, I found a great sense of fulfillment in how I could impact lives working with people as a HR Business Partner. I never looked back.
Thanks to the previous experience, I could now apply both my HR and Accounting knowledge to add value to my dual responsibilities of People and Operations role. I hope my story inspires those at the crossing road of choosing what is next for their career.
